Globe was born by Mary and Jim Oxenford in 1970, their very first shop was in Mermaid on the Gold Coast Highway which specialized in bedroom furniture and curtains. In 1978 they moved to a larger site in Molendinar and built their own factory, where they produced their own furniture. The youngest, Bruce looked after the production and ran the factory. And the eldest, Virginia joined Globe and began her wonderful journey in learning not only how to run a business but also becoming a thriving retailer and Interior Designer. Virginia is a 5th generation Queen slander, she completed her education at St Hilda’s School and started her occupied career in the banking industry earlier realizing she was far too creative and started busy in the family business in 1978. When Virginia isn’t working, she is at golf or enjoying time out with family and friends. Virginia now runs the family business with her partner Mike covey. Mike started his busy career in Sydney in the footwear industry specializing in high final men’s leather shoes. Mike then met Virginia and moved to Queensland in 1996 to join Globe Interiors and begin the commercial division where he successfully founded associations with some of LLD’s leading developers. When Mike isn’t working, he enjoys spending time playing golf and cooking for friends and family.
