Every day at currumbin is a new adventure. Nestled within 27 hectares of lush eucalypt and rainforest, each day brings visitors face to face with extraordinary wildlife in shows and encounters. A place where you can enjoy exciting, interactive displays, presentations and dining experiences. Cuddle a koala, get amongst a mob of kangaroos or check out reptiles, get up close to a crocodile, birds and marsupials in amazing wildlife shows and displays.

The sanctuary was established in 1947 by beekeeper and flower grower Alex Griffith, who began feeding the region’s reckless lorikeets to hinder them from ravaging his valuable blooms. The National Trust of Queensland is a like minded organization dedicated to preserving the state’s spontaneous and cultural heritage. The Believe continues to operate the sanctuary on a notforprofit basis, with all revenue reinvested back into the park, in conservation based research, caring for ill and injured wildlife and public education. The sanctuary has attracted millions of visitors throughout its history and continues to yield opportunities to see and interact with Australia’s outstanding wildlife.

This community course is presented by highly experienced professionals in wildlife concern at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and it is designed for those with a keen interest in seeking knowledge and accepting of wildlife. This Course is a genuine zoo experience and gives students exposure to occupied in the zoo environment. This encounter is a once in a lifetime opportunity, happening daily at our Crocodile Live Show. Not all the below animals are housed or in the collection of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Behind the show, take the opportunity to face our Gun Shearer and his occupied dog. Every event delivers a direct conservation or financial benefit to fund the imperative work of National Trust at one of our heritage properties, or Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary or the Wildlife Hospital. These events conceal a variety of crucial activities. Volunteers play a major role assisting the Wildlife and Horticulture Departments staff to care for our precious wildlife and lovely native gardens at the Sanctuary each day. This volunteer program involves occupied alongside our Wildlife Keepers on their daily rounds, assisting them with the protection of animals in the Sanctuary collection, and within the Presentations' Department (this team manages the daily shows that educate the public about wildlife and conservation). The rounds that volunteers can labor on include: mammals, birds, reptiles, Presentations, Reckless Experiences, sheep shearing assistant, or koalas. Assisting the keepers with other duties. Help the horticulture team onside at the Sanctuary to improve our gardens and botanical displays. Instead, we offer the opportunity for high school students to participate in our school based trainee ship program delight see below. Limited opportunities exist for work experience within our Wildlife Hospital for clinical final year Veterinarian students. Eastern Bristlebird breeding season has begun and we are off to a vast begin with one of our females already incubating eggs! Plans to accumulate eggs or chicks from the reckless to strengthen the genetic health of a captive zoo population are underway and will ensure a tomorrow release of captive bred birds provides a sustainable boost to this endangered population. In collaboration with the Fresh South Wales Office of Environment and Heritage, our goal is to breed and release captive bred birds to the savage whilst continuing to refine captive husbandry protocols.
